Full Moon Nocturnal Nature Immersion Walk in Cornwall – Saturday December 18th 2021
On arrival at our crackling fireside at dusk, you will be presented with a choice of luxury hot beverages, a spiced homemade authentic Chai, indulgent Cacao or traditional tea and coffee. If you would like to, we invite you to paint your face with our ultraviolet reflective non-toxic, cosmetically certified paints or tattoos (or please do bring your own or arrive fully painted up!). We use black-light torches during our journey to know where you are, help keep your eyes accustomed to the dark, track wildlife, especially UV reactive ones, and to re-connect with our childlike sense of fun. (Great photo opportunities too!)
Once we are ready, we set off into the forest where we follow the river which flows West. After connecting with the sounds, tracks and smells of dusk turning to dark, we emerge out onto the rugged clifftops with the Atlantic Ocean crashing below. With views of St. Ives and Carbis Bay to the South-West and St. Agnes to the North-East, we will introduce you to celestial constellations and how to navigate at night using the stars and visible planets.
We then complete our circle and head back through the forest, now at its darkest, making time for solo or duo sit-spots if desired, finally heading back to the fireside where you can warm up, share stories and relax. The route covered is approximately 10km/6 miles and the experience is about 4 hours in total, depending on the speed of the group. We are in no rush. We do ask that this is a sober experience and children aged 14 and over are welcome, accompanied by an adult. Please wear proper shoes, not open-toed sandals or flip-flops and we recommend bringing a bottle of water and a small bag. We have a compost toilet at our site where you arrive and return to at the end.
We have full Public and Employers Liability Insurance, Level 3 Wilderness First Aid valid to 2023 and First-Aid kits, Level 4 Bushcraft, Survival & Wilderness Living Skills Mentor & Instructor Certificates, DBS and risk assessments. Once you have booked, we will send you a consent form to complete. Please note, you may only join us is this consent form has been sent back to us in advance.
Weather cancellation policy: All trips will take place rain or shine with the following exceptions: If there is wind gusting over 40mph at this time of year then the woods can be dangerous. If this is forecast then we will cancel with as much notice as possible and offer you an alternative date or full refund.
