Level 2 Training in Bushcraft & Wilderness Living Skills

Our weekend bushcraft course accredited by both the NCFE and the IOL (Institute of Outdoor Learning) is an extremely comprehensive introduction to the world of bushcraft. This bushcraft course covers everything you need to gain an  level 2 qualification in Bushcraft skills and Wilderness Living accredited by the NCFE as well as an IOL award (*assessment completed separately), so you can rest assured that you are receiving the very best instruction around.

Set in stunning woodland just off the coast of Cornwall near St. Ives, this bushcraft course will open your eyes to what is possible in a woodland wilderness setting.

This course is great for beginners and confident campers who wish to get a deeper grounding, experience and skillset in a wide range of ways to be in nature and thrive. The old saying ‘the more you know, the less you carry’ by Mors Kochanski really applies. You will go away knowing that with only a sharp knife, something to sleep under and in, you can do almost anything, and you will have plenty to practice and develop back in your own wilderness settings.

This weekend bushcraft course is suitable for adults and older children who really want to up their skill levels.

What is covered on the weekend bushcraft course?

All sessions on the course are hands on and you will get to try each and every skill below:

  • Fire lighting

  • Axe skills

  • Shelter building (Natural and Man-Made)

  • Traps and tracking

  • Preparing food (Fin, Feather and Fur)

  • Campfire cooking

  • Natural navigation

  • Safe tool use

  • Water sourcing

  • Natural cord making

  • Carving skills

  • Knife skills

  • Foraging

  • Tool care and knife law

The instructors will be on site at all times so you will be able to ask as many questions as you like and have the opportunity for some one on one training if you wish.

We run this weekend bushcraft course for you and we want you to get the most out of it. The content of the weekend bushcraft course has been tried and tested by our instructors in a real world environment, so we know that what we teach you actually works. We do not do bushcraft by numbers and we don’t parrot information straight from books.

One last thing, we will only ever have a maximum of 10 people on our open weekend bushcraft courses so you can be sure of quality one to one teaching should you need it.

*If you would like to gain the full accreditation for this course, come back for the assessment weekend Friday 1st October to Sunday 3rd October 2021. This gives time for consolidation and acquiring the underpinning knowledge to achieve your  Level 2 – NCFE and IOL Award. We can only accommodate a maximum of 10 people on our assessment weekends so please ensure that if you wish to be assessed, you book this at your earliest convenience when purchasing your training.
Our qualification has been developed to meet the specific needs of our learners and has been accredited by NCFE demonstrating the quality and rigor.

NCFE is an awarding organisation recognised by the qualification regulators for England (Ofqual), Wales (Qualifications Wales) and Northern Ireland (CCEA Regulation). As there is no recognised Nationally Regulating Body, within Bushcraft, Survival and wilderness living Industry as such this is an unregulated qualification and is not a nationally recognised qualification. This qualification can be used to show learning and formal training at a given level.  

This qualification has been accredited as a Customised Qualification and we have benchmarked the qualification’s learning outcomes and assessment criteria at Level (using a national framework’s level descriptors) to allow you to demonstrate the difficulty and depth of study.
